 | My name is Evon Peter; I am a former Chief of the Neetsaii Gwich’in tribe from Arctic Village, Alaska and the current Executive Director of Native Movement. Evon Peter, former Chief of the Neetsaii Gwich’in tribe http://images.urbanpeace.net/people/EvonPeterHeadShot.jpg My organization provides culturally based leadership development through offices in Alaska and Arizona. My wife, who is Navajo, and I have been based out of Flagstaff, Arizona for the past few years, although I travel home to Alaska in support of our initiatives there as well. It is interesting to me that my wife and I find ourselves as Indigenous people from the two states where McCain and Palin originate in their leadership.

Saturday 15 March 2008 | Man Wolf making flutes again! | | | |
 | Man Wolf Strayhorn, traditional Cherokee flute maker, has been on a sabbatical from his art work. After fifteen years of seven days a week, he really needed a rest! His passion for the instrument, and music could not keep him off the scene for ever, and he is back, and taking custom orders. During his absence from the world of flute making, he has developed his own style of wood flutes. Incorporating the ancient measurements and traditions of the Cherokee cane flutes into the construction and style of the wood flute, his flutes are really unique and one of a kind; a real collectors item.
" I really missed seeing the joy in a persons face the first time they play the flute that has been tuned by their own body measurements. Many times, this is the first instrument they have ever played, and they are awestruck that they can actually play it at all."
Man Wolf says he has a new CD planed for later this year or early next year. To view Man Wolfs pages on the Cherokee flutes and his music, click the link on the left panel for Man Wolfs Flutes. To see the Texas Country Reporter television show segment, click on the Man Wolf on TV link. He will be updating his pages often as new products and photos require. See his work at Man Wolfs Flutes.

C. J. Strayhorn06 Sep : 09:11Sorry it took me so long to answer. I make traditional flutes, and they are "Native Tuned". They usually are in the key of F#. I say they are "in the key of ME".
Rick Carroll30 Aug : 10:02O siyo Manwolf, I have another question about your flutes. Are they tuned to a standard pitch? Can they be played with other intruments without retuning them? Thanks, Rick C.
